Both my younger kids just came back from their first day of summer camp. Summer camp held at the local amusement park. It was a roaring success.
I'm so relieved.
AND they had the chance to feed and pet a sea lion.
I'm so jealous. I want to be eight, and I want to go to summer camp where there are rides and a sea lion!
(This week the theme is sea mammals. Next week the theme is land animals. If they get a chance to pet a tiger, I'll be beside myself.)

Oooo, that sounds wonderful. Can I be 8 again too? I am regretting not sending my son to camp this summer, he's bored and already driving me crazy. He does have KinderKamp at the end of the month and we go on vacation in the middle of August.
I had been really nervous about this--my son has some "behavioral issues"--so I didn't do summer camp last year.
I LOVED summer camp every year. I started sleep away camp when I was eight. Now I can't imagine what my parents were thinking at age eight. (Well, my brother was there too, and the camp director's daughter and I were the same age.)
Note to self: write about Monkeytown.
MONKEYtown? Where?
*heart goes pitter-pat*
I never got to go to proper camp *sniff*. (We moved before I was old enough and they don't really seem to do camp for just kids in the England).
I bet they wouldn't mind parent volunteers tagging along. School field trips never seem to.
whoops
..."never seem to have enough volunteers."
I got to pet a baby tiger once. it was cool.
EAP--Monkeytown was at camp. More later. Heh heh.
Kate--Well, yeah, but I think not. Admission to the park is fifty bucks. I think they's see through the parents volunteering to lend a helping hand.
Nicole--I'm trying not to sulk in your general direction.
