Peophins and friends.

My daughter spends a lot of time on Neopets, and she spends a lot of time drawing.

These are her pets, as imagined in "anthro" form. Recently she's asked for a copy of Photoshop to help her in her art. Well, she may be reaching for the stars on that one, but it's good to dream big.

That one on the left looks like the way I envisioned my novel's main characters -- anthropoid birds. I had a different tail in mind, though, and a more birdlike posture.

Talented kid!

Why, thank you Doug.

You see, these are the sort of comments you are *supposed* to leave here. ;D

I like the way she's envisioning them--they have stories of their origins, why they're wearing what they're wearing, who their friends are. The Dungeons & Dragons geek in me loves it.

I really like their shape ann the colours that she has used. I'm not an arty person but I think she has tapped into something I know I haven't seen before. I like the two without legs.

You've reminded me I need to scan in and post some of my guy's artwork--he's an awesome artist, too. Don't know where he gets it, I can draw a bunny, and that is it.

I like these pictures.

I used to have a neopet but I couldn't for the life of me keep it alive. Everytime I checked on it it was near death. I used to beg my college next door neighbor to feed mine while she was feeding hers.

Get her a copy off of limewire. Email me for more.

Those are really good. Love the gesture! Do encourage her!

I...ahem...got my copy of Photoshop through...less than legal means. It's a vexing software initially (spoken as a programmer who thought she was good at software), but I think your daughter would have a ball colouring and doing effects using it.

I scan my stuff in as line art, no colour, and then go from there.

Hi, (I found your blog through smartbitchestrashybooks.com, but I really liked it so I visited again). You should download the Gimp for her. It's an open source clone of photoshop so it's totally free. I've used it a lot and I really like it.

Creator of the piccy here. WHOOT!! SO HAPPY! *starts dancing* Thanks for the rave reviews! I'm glad that you like my pets. It's nice to get feedback from people who think my art looks good. Oh, and comment on Photoshop: Mom, I just saw it through a Neofriend. I thought her computerized shading looked good, so I asked for it. I had NO IDEA it cost that much!

Hey Suisan, and the author,

Nice work here.

Try PAINT.net as an alternative. Also a Photoshop alternative, but less tricky. AND It's free too. Go to http://www.eecs.wsu.edu/paint.net/

And if you like digital art, lookup DeviantArt.com as well.
