Been otherwise occupied

Sorry to have been away for so long. Son stuff. Family stuff. Garden stuff. Stuff Stuff.

Did you know that the people who continue to mourn Barbaro's death are, um, INSANE?????

His fifth birthday was this week. Did you have a cake? Light a candle? Hmmmm? No? Shame on you.

OH!! Grand news!! We have news from heaven. Yep. It's on the website. Barbaro and his dear dead horsey friend have *bred* in heaven and have given birth to *twins*! No, really. I swear I'm not making this up. (OK, someone is, but it's not me.)

Go read for yourself. Equine Heaven

(By the way, do not try to tell these folks that they are delusional or writing really good fanfic. Noooo. They saw the pictures of Barbaro with the angelic orbs over his head as he walked to the starting gate on that fateful day. I've wanted to point out in the past that the angels weren't doing a super terrific job on that day, but just seems so mean.)

Edited to add 2:25 pm: Oh POOH! They changed the website sot hat the birth announcement is gone. But really, there was a birth announcement on there regarding the birth of Heavenly Filly and Heavenly Colt born this week from a dead horse fathered by a dead stallion, all in horsie heaven. I'll have to see if the way-back machine can be of any help.

Yay, you're back!!!

And snarky. I love it!!

I like to think of my lab Rocky romping around in a park but I don't create a fictionally life where he's had puppies and eating spaghetti with a cocker spaniel. Yikes. There's coping and then there is out right crazy. I'm probably a bad pet owner but I haven't remembered a birthday yet and I have three still alive!!!! Bad Cindy.

Gardening is on my agenda but I'm waiting until the end of May. I have killed too many plants in my time.

Okay, so do these Barbaro mourners take into consideration all that racing entails, from ignoring the immaturity of his growth plates, to high percentages of pulmonary hemorrhaging from the strain of racing, to cribbing, weaving, and other psychological effects of being stalled for long periods, and a variety of other physical and psychological health hazards (not to mention stuff like pin firing, chronic use of Legend, etc.)? I mean, IMO people don't really race horses for the love of the horse. . .

I daresay we can look forward to more celestial foal announcements starring Barbaro and Eight Belles. Lord help us all.
